Once the homes or studios of artists in the lively Asmalımescit area of Tünel, the 20th century architecture of the Hamson buiding was in need of some serious renovation when Autoban took on the project of Tünel House. Original features were touched up, and with the owner in mind, dark colours, black, grey, and walnut brown were used with both white walls and exposed brick to give the flat a masculine look. Parquet flooring was chosen and varnished in shiny black, alongside mosaic tiles typically used in old Istanbul homes which were ordered specially for the house. Altogether, a surprisingly tranquil hideout in the heart of the city.
