Called Crystal Collection, plants appear to grow out of a crack in the surface of each pot, the containers are made of oak and their design is inspired by mountain crystals.
Our photos of Via Tortona. Pieke Bergmans Design Virus: giant, soft, elastic monsters, “trained to put you in very uncomfortable positions.” The project is a collaboration between Pieke and Innofa-stretch textiles.
Moa Baskets made of elastic yarn and resin by Eva Marguerre and Marcel Besau. The collection includes three types of basket, fruit basket, newspaper and trash basket. I love the lightness of the form and material and how it allows for an incredible layering of color.
Valéria’s art is all carefully hand-built and fired in her own kilns. Her work is strongly influenced by her origins in Brazil and is frequently based on natural and organic forms and geometric shapes. Her process explores the relationship between sculpture, architecture and surface. Repeated sequences can frequently be found in her works juxtaposed with idiosyncratic hand made parts. Much of her recent works have been made from porcelain rather than stoneware which Valéria manipulates to appear defiantly weightless.
The upper curved tube has the formal vigour and massiveness of a Viking helmet. The totality expresses a certain and solid equilibrium, ultimately stabilized by the horizontal bar and firmly rooted to earth by a circular crown base. However, it is possible to read into the work the crystallization of a just completed movement, or the intention of impending animation. The apparent fragility of the supports, slender but as effective as the limbs of a flamingo, multiplies the visual combinations among the components, in the intersections and in the apparent parallelism that are produced from various vantage points.
