The cast-concrete structure is punctuated with an irregular arrangement of windows, some huge and wrapping around corners, others smaller and deep-set. It has a large foyer and a steep staircase that winds up to the top floor, an open 750-square-foot space with a ceiling that rises from 6 1/2 to nearly 11 feet and windows with views of the Alps. Many of the interior walls are lined with plywood, to create a contrast with the concrete, Mr. Fuhrimann said: “The cold material and the warm material result in a really atmospheric feeling.”

Designer Nao Tamura, has won the I SaloneSatellite Award, with a serving container made in silica sand, called Seasons. It is being shown at the SaloneSatellite, during the Milan design week 2010. Seasons is an interpretation of functional kitchen and serving ware, inspired by nature and technology, through the cultural lens of Japan.Like a real leaf, each serving dish is flexible and multi-purpose. It rolls up for storage using the benefits of silicone to insure its use in an oven or microware, able to withstand repeated dishwasher cleaning.Each leaf enjoys its own shape, stackable in its open state, and in multiples, creating a sculptural display of serving artware.

Oliver Kosta Théfaine is a French artist who uses a lighter in the most unique way; to burn intricate designs into ceilings. His artwork focuses on interpreting these acts of vandalism and modifying them so they can be understood by the broader public.

The Bowery Stadium, officially opened on the evening of Friday, May 14th to a New York crowd who witnessed the unveiling of the space, designed by Rafael de Cardenas. The first installation is called “Order and Progress”, a celebration of Brazilian soccer through the lens of the NYC creative community.
