Retailer, craftsman and creative type Salvatore Fazzari of Perth furniture and design store Mobilia is behind the fit-out of the 145sqm space that morphs a traditional Asian restaurant into a 70-seat pizza restaurant. They fit-out the place using everyday materials to create a lively, edgy interior that has instantly become part of the urban community.
Handcrafted white teak monolithic stool “characterized by the use of irregular and worn pieces of wood. The colourful rope detail, in contrast with the natural main body, permits to move Hug from a room to another and gives a strong personality to a simple ‘piece of wood’.
The high headroom is coupled with minimalist design, big windows and variable lighting. White is still dominant especially in furnishing but the revetment has a warmer effect thanks to the wooden material; furthermore most of the furniture are recycled or second-hand.
The concept behind the Stack easy chair and footstool comes from the idea of having cushions in constant motion that look like they have been stacked randomly on top of each other. Placing multicoloured polyurethane upholstered cushions on a mild steel structure creates the perception of depth and playfulness.
Dutch firm laura alvarez architecture has completed the renovation and interior design of a two-floor apartment in Amsterdam. The building is catalogued as a national monument. Architect Alvarez says: The main idea was to transform the dark and claustrophobic existing apartment into a bright loft and at the same time bring into view special elements of the ancient building.
