Vienna-based architecture office propeller z has completed an addition to an old farmhouse in fahndorf, austria. Constructed on a budget of 70,000 euros, ‘flag’ negotiates the conditions and features of the pre-existing structure while remaining quiet in its presence from the nearby street.
Called Crystal Collection, plants appear to grow out of a crack in the surface of each pot, the containers are made of oak and their design is inspired by mountain crystals.
French designer Julian Robin has designed a tricky piece of furniture. The Cub Lamp looks like a normal block of wood , until you turn it on and it becomes a light. The interior of the Cub Lamp is etched with a leaf design. The contrast between on and off presents a comment on nature. When off, the Cub Lamp bares little resemblance to its original form. When on, the tree the wood once was shines through.

The stools are made from sawdust and resin, from a process in its infancy developed by Turners and Moore and Purewhyte. The Sawdust and resin mix is molded under high pressure and heat. The resulting material can then be worked and finished like timber. This process uses a material that would usually be thrown away; using a mould also means a larger shape can be made with less wastage in comparison to solid timber. The complete set of three stools and a small table can be stacked away and also used as a side table.
