From June 27 to July 14, 2014 in Versailles (France) will take place the Solar Decathlon, the “ Eco-Friendly Architecture Olympic Games” with the aim to design , built and simulate a real domestic life in a high energetic efficiency residential building. Twenty selected teams from universities all over the world will build at “Cité du Soleil”- the smart solar village, their eco-house that will be subjected to ten different tests to declare the winning University.
To confirm the international reward of its talent, after the presence at the 2013 edition, even in the current year CLEI has been selected by two teams involved: University di Roma Tre, with the project “RhOME” and the National Autonomous University of Mexico, with the project “Casa”.
The project RhOME – “a home for Rome” is presented by the Italian team Roma Tre, the youngest University of Rome, established in 1992 and where 40.000 students are enrolled at. Roma Tre is an essential player in the urban development of the Capital and it is an active international -wide centre of cultural production. The project proposes a solution for the urban areas which are characterized by low density and high consumption, and it offers a systematic plan replayable in many other contexts. The prototype for Versailles – the result of the precious cooperation between the Roman University and Clei – is a 60sqm apartment where ULISSE DINING by CLEI is a versatile and multifunctional solution. Indeed, it’s a transformable system composed by a double bed with vertical tilting opening, whose main feature is a table that disappears because it slides, while the bed opens and takes place underneath the bed base.
CASA, designed by the Mexican team UNAM, is an affordable and lightweight construction, whose aim is to exploit the residual spaces of high-density urban areas, and to face environmental changes. The Mexican team, up against the challenge to develop a dwell in a small space, has chosen the transformable systems PENELOPE SOFA and POPPI 120. Penelope Sofa is provided with a front sofa that disappears giving way to a double bed with vertical tilting opening; Poppi 120 has an intermediate bed with horizontal tilting opening, and an integrated writing desk.
In both projects, CLEI modular programs offer innovating and functional solutions for day and night, suitable for different life styles. Indeed, CLEI furnishing solutions are the result of the continuous attention of the company to the modernity, as well as its look always toward the future: for this reason CLEI confirms to be the perfect partner for an event such Solar Decathlon, whose goal is to promote eco-friendly and efficient housing solutions where spaces are convertible.
